And how do you recruit them and get them to work together? In this fun and practical session you will discover how amazing you can sound and how far you can go with what you already have.
• Who Mentors you? Who are you mentoring?

  Who mentors you?  Who are you mentoring?   Does mentoring have to do with age?  Is mentoring a weekly, scheduled process?   How long does mentoring last?  Should I try to find a mentor?   Maybe you have been mentoring someone without even realizing it.  It’s important to get clarity on what mentoring is and what it isn’t.  This class experience will help you understand mentoring.

• Teaching Public Prayer to a Congregation

  Scripture encourages us to "pray without ceasing." Such lives of constant prayer flow out of corporate worship, which might be understood as one continuous prayer  - dialogue with the Father, led by the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Our task as worship leaders, therefore, is to teach this understanding of worship to our congregations, and to facilitate the act of public prayer. We will explore this topic together and share theological reflections, contextual considerations and practical advice.

Many times the worship team will opt for a digital piano over an acoustic for many reasons:

• It’s not in tune.
• The church doesn’t own the right kind or quantity of microphones.
• I can’t isolate the piano from the drums, guitars and floor monitors.

I know, as a piano player , if a Steinway grand or good sounding upright were available, I might prefer it to the digital and the “fake” piano sound I always end up with and an action that feels nothing like a piano.

We’re going to demonstrate techniques that work in a live setting that will shed some light on how to make this work for you., if you dare!

This class covers everything visual worship and projection related: worship visual ideas and philosophies, Environmental Projection, projection hardware, worship software, best practices in worship, how to involve a team in your media booth, and much more!

We will even cover how to create your own worship visuals, using only your iPhone.

• Trading up - from Song Leader to Experience Pastor

  We’ll talk about what makes a great worship experience, how to lead it and dig into stage presence, Flow, and sensitivity.

• What to Say
  - Rich Kirkpatrick
  While we as worship leaders spend a lot of energy on our music skills, what we say matters, too. Should I just speak freely at the moment as the Spirit leads or should I write out my prayers? How do I stay true to who I am while communicating to the church what I know God wants to say to them? In this presentation, you will learn that authenticity counts! But, you will also learn that being authentic indeed requires some practiced communication skills.  Whether it is leading a song transition, sharing a prayer or giving announcements growing in communication will significantly improve your effectiveness. 
• Bible and Music

  Not only does the Bible portray and guide our use of music in congregational worship, but the Church has a rich tradition of drawing upon the Bible as a primary source for worship music, so that the word is not only read but sung as well. This mutually reinforcing relationship has nourished Christian worship all the way back to it's "pre-history" in the worship of the people of Israel, and is key to the renewal of congregational worship today.

• Teams and Rehearsals

  Rehearsals are one of the most important opportunities of the week for worship ministries.  Rehearsals build common trust, community, skill development, volunteer development and put your worship team in a place of most potential for the weekend services.   Rehearsals are not “run throughs”.  Don’t be among those churches who say, “oh, we don’t rehearse, we just do a “run-thru”  a couple hours before the service.    Rehearsals are GOLD!

• Expanding Ministry Effectiveness through Strengthening Key Relationships

  Practical ways you can increase your effectiveness as a worship leader by understanding the dynamics of "relationship with your congregation." I think it will serve as a nice compliment to both of your presentations.

  Many times the sound operators are blamed for the bad mix but is the responsibility theirs entirely?
  No, the band has just as much to do with producing a good sound as the running sound on the other end of the sanctuary.

This talk will cover how to use the crowdfunding tools such as Kickstarter, social media, and tips with printing CDs, vinyl LPs, and even paperback books. If you are doing a church worship project, learn how to deal with intellectual property issues as well as funding ethics in this class. When you have an idea, it doesn't count until it ships!
